Wasted Ice Bucket
The Wasted Ice Bucket brings the collection’s material language into the ritual of entertaining. Made from reclaimed clay, reprocessed ceramics and surplus studio glazes, its substantial architectural form is designed to hold and serve ice while making a sculptural statement on the table or drinks trolley.
The lidded form has a strong, almost Brutalist presence, softened by the variation and tactility of the handmade surface. As with the wider collection, ground fired ceramic is returned to the clay body, creating a terrazzo-like texture that reveals traces of previous work.
From discarded studio material to the centre of a gathering, the Ice Bucket embodies the idea at the heart of Wasted: that overlooked materials can be transformed into objects of pleasure, ritual and celebration.
Additional Information
Hand thrown in Emma’s studio using reclaimed clay and waste material gathered from previous making, each piece is shaped by hand and carries the character of the material it is made from.
Because the reclaimed clay comes from a variety of sources and has been through different stages of the making process, its composition is naturally inconsistent. This affects how each piece behaves and shrinks during firing, resulting in subtle variations in colour, size, shape and surface.
These variations are an inherent part of Wasted and make every piece lovingly unique and individual. No two pieces will be exactly the same, so please expect, and enjoy, the differences that come with handmade production.
